“I wanted to do a boudoir shoot as a wedding gift for my husband. Long before we got engaged, he had asked me if I would do a boudoir shoot for him- I said I would. After we got engaged he asked again, but this time I told him I just wasn’t comfortable with my body. I saw how disappointed he was and it made me think “he loves my body, he thinks I’m sexy, why would I not celebrate this?” I then decided to make it a surprise to give to him on our wedding day. The disappointment on his face made me realize how beautiful he thought I was- that made me excited to celebrate my body, not just for him, but also for myself. It was one of the very first things I researched after we got engaged.”
“When I look at my husband’s album (that he keeps on his night stand) I am very proud of the girl in the photos! She worked hard to pull everything off- she went to the gym every day, she ate clean, she got outfits that made her feel sexy and beautiful- and damn if she doesn’t look good! That girl in the pictures is a version of myself to continuously aspire to be, and not just because of her looks- that girl is self-confident, self-assured, and commanding.”
“There’s nothing I’d do differently! Everything worked out perfectly- the pictures are amazing and my husband’s reaction made me feel even more beautiful. I am so glad I did a boudoir shoot! Now that I recently had baby, I’m even happier I did it- I appreciate where my body is now and what it’s accomplished, but I can look at those pictures as something to work towards. I think every woman should have their own pictures taken- even if in that moment you don’t appreciate your body, at some point you will, and you will be so proud of that album.”
“I cant wait to do another boudoir album with Marie! I am looking forward to celebrating my new body- the one that carried a baby and delivered a beautiful, baby girl, after thirteen hours of labor and no pain medication. That body is softer, but it’s a warrior, and I am proud of the strength it has (strength I really didn’t know I had). I am looking forward to embracing the changes- a softer stomach that kept my baby safe for nine months, the wider hips that gave way to her, the bigger breasts that provide her everything she needs, the stronger arms that are constantly holding a bigger and bigger baby girl. These days it’s so easy for me to criticize myself, but I know that just like before, and this time on a much grander scale, the pictures will remind me to appreciate and love my body for what it’s done and what it looks like.”
