I’ve been lucky enough to have so many incredible clients walk through the studio doors lately, clients who were inviting a new life into this world. And although most of our maternity photography clients have opted to stay anonymous, one of them said something that stuck with me…

“I never knew I wanted maternity boudoir photos until I saw your work.”

She had been getting ads for other photographers, the more typical type of maternity photos (y’know the ones… big billowing gowns and fabric against a white back drop). It just didn’t feel like… her. And then she saw my ad cross her feed—and she fell in love with my art. The deeply personalized and intentional way each client is treated, the way that light and embodiment infuses every image I take… the way you are as much the focus and intention as the belly and life you’re growing. Because while this is about this specific chapter in life, it’s also about everything that came before, and everything that’s about to change. It’s about honouring this moment of stillness, of transformation, before things shift. It’s about witnessing the person who got you here, all the stories that have unfolded—and it’s about taking it all, and documenting it as art.

Because boudoir photography isn’t just about sexy photos in our studio. Boudoir, to me, is about being fully embodied. You don’t need to wear lingerie, or get naked (although you can!). You can wear a gown from our client closet, or be draped in fabric, or wear jeans and a t-shirt, or yes, you can wear the lingerie!

It’s not about what you wear. It’s about how you feel.

Its about giving you the tools you need to drop into your body, be present, and step into your favourite self. It’s about feeling the fear of doing a big scary thing, of being seen, of observing yourself—and making the choice to do it a little nervous. Boudoir is so much more than pretty pictures, it’s a commitment to loving your journey and your self every step of the way.
